CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Champaign-Urbana residents will see a mix of sunshine, colder air and occasional snow chances over the next 10 days, starting with mild conditions before winter tightens its grip later this week.

After a sunny and breezy start to the week, temperatures will briefly climb into the 50s before dropping sharply, with several days of teens and 20s expected and multiple chances for snow.

Today and tonight

  • Mostly sunny with a few afternoon clouds

  • High near 41 degrees with southwest winds 10 to 20 mph

  • Partly cloudy tonight with a low around 31

Midweek outlook

  • Tuesday: Cloudy and warmer, with a high near 51

  • Wednesday: Much colder and windy, high around 36, low near 14

  • Thursday: Mostly sunny but cold, high in the mid-20s

Snow chances ahead

  • Friday: Afternoon snow showers possible, high near 35

  • Next Friday: Another chance for snow with highs in the low 30s

Cold weekend and extended forecast

  • Weekend highs in the teens with overnight lows near zero

  • Gradual warming early next week with highs returning to the 30s by midweek

  • Mostly dry conditions outside of periodic snow chances

Meteorologists say while no major winter storms are expected at this time, fluctuating temperatures and occasional snow could create slick travel conditions. Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts closely as colder air settles into Central Illinois.
