DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) — An arrest has been made in connection with a late-March shooting that left a Danville woman injured.

According to the Danville Police Department, 42-year-old Curtis S. Butler was taken into custody April 14 around noon following a traffic stop conducted by the department’s Street Crimes Unit. Police said Butler was arrested without incident.

He was wanted on a Vermilion County warrant for aggravated discharge of a firearm and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon related to the March 29 shooting.

Officers originally responded to the 1600 block of Beechwood Drive at 3:36 a.m. that day for reports of shots fired. Investigators said a large gathering had taken place in the area shortly before the shooting.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police say no additional information is being released at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Danville Police Department at 217-431-2250 or Vermilion County Crime Stoppers 217-446-TIPS.
